Holland Casino Zandvoort closes after 50 years
Holland Casino announces that the Zandvoort location will close its doors for good in February 2025. An end of an era, as this location was the company’s first location in 1976. The casino would no longer be profitable.
A brightly lit Ferris wheel stands next to a modern building with the label “Holland Casino” in the evening. The building has geometric patterns on the facade and an adjacent apartment building with multiple floors is visible in the background.
Petra de Ruiter, CEO of Holland Casino, calls the closure an emotional decision. “Zandvoort was our beginning, so it is a farewell with mixed feelings,” says De Ruiter. The location had had fewer visitors for some time and is too close to other thirteen locations, which means that it is no longer profitable to remain open, according to the company.
Special memories
The municipality of Zandvoort has stated in a response that it regrets that Holland Casino is closing its doors. “Many Zandvoort residents, but also visitors to our seaside resort, have fond memories of their visit to this special establishment,” according to a spokesperson for the municipality.
In addition, the redevelopment of the Badhuisplein, the square where the Holland Casino is located, is currently in full swing. What the closure of the casino means for these plans is not yet clear at this time.
De Ruiter states that most of the staff will probably be able to work at other locations.
